Hacking Ecology offers a decentralized and secure database to record water quality and environmental data. This highly accessible database is integrated into an Open Access map, improving transparency and access to water conditions around the world by making information on the state of global water conditions publically and freely available online.

Thanks to our distributed database and highly reliable sensors, Hacking Ecology provides you with data you can depend on for a wide range of real-time data analysis. Need help with the analysis? No problem. Take advantage of Hacking Ecology’s data analysis service and let us do the work for you!

Whatever your preferred coding language or operating system, our software adapts to you! Access and analyze data with Python, R, Matlab, GNU/Linux, Mac, Windows, and more, it’s all compatible. You can even visualise the data on your cell phone remotely. Robust, distributed and highly customizable, our data processing and statistics visualization software offers you a fail-safe data management platform.

To make the most out of our products and services, it’s important for users to receive high quality training. As well as organizing quality training sessions showing users how to correctly use our water sensors, we also host educational workshops on the vital role and chemical characteristics of water, best practices in environmental monitoring and the importance of frequent monitoring. This commitment to education and regular training empowers citizens to become advocates for water quality, as well as enabling them to make the best use of monitoring tools.

The early tests with the current platform started in Octuber 2020 restricted to Nayad sondes
In January 2021 Hacking Ecology has invited other projects of Open Science Hardware focused on environmental monitoring to use the Sensing Platform.
We take privacy as critical for personal and environmental data. So then, we have started to implement a more advanced framework with more tools for data controlling by users.
